Had our company dinner at Hiryu and it was an absolutely exceptional experience from start to finish. The omakase was thoughtfully curated, with each course showcasing top-tier ingredients and precise execution. Standouts for me were the chutoro, toro, and the wagyu don — rich, well-balanced, and incredibly satisfying. The truffle elements added a nice touch without overpowering the natural flavours. Service was attentive yet not intrusive, and the chefs were professional and engaging, taking time to explain each dish which made the experience even more enjoyable. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to fully appreciate every course. The ambience is intimate and perfect for a special occasion or team dinner. You can really feel the attention to detail in both the food and the overall dining experience. Definitely one of the better omakase experiences in Singapore — will be back again. Highly recommended. Bad experience at Hiryu: I'm on regular business trips in Singapore, this time lodging at the Sofitel City Center next to the amazing Tras Street with excellent restaurants. I've been tasting a few ones already, and this lunchtime I wanted to try Hiryu, lower rated than most restaurants on this street but still good rating. Why such a rating? Nobody was there to welcome you, as it was all dark, I went up to the second floor where there was some voice noises, but to be rudely sent back by a man pointing to the ground floor. Then I manage to open a door, the room was a bit dark with empty tables and only 3 people at the chef long table, while more than 10 seats were still available. I patiented, finally another man came, looking at me up and down (evaluating?). He asked how many people. When I said 1 person, he hesitated, and said "we're full". No woman policy? No one person policy? Not profitable enough *because one person) policy? No foreigner policy? Whatever the reason, you're definitely not welcome in this restaurant. I understand why the other omakase restaurants and other restaurants on the streets are better rated. Meal type: Lunch Service: 1
