Having discovered Holam Bakery back in 2023 while working part-time in the same industrial building, it instantly became my go-to treat before and after shifts, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Tucked away on the 4/F (units I and J) of Camel Paint Building Block 3 in Kwun Tong, this hidden gem specialises in meticulously crafted mille crêpe cakes. The bakery’s origin story is as impressive as its pastries: established in 2013 by a passion-driven owner born in the 1990s, he saved his hard-earned money from working part-time while studying at the same time to start the business at just 20 years old, renting the studio to experiment with original cake recipes. That dedication successfully transformed a modest online operation into the popular brick-and-mortar studio it is today. Its remarkable craftsmanship has not gone unnoticed, securing prestige like the 2024 OpenRice Best Restaurant Award for Best Cake Shop, extensive features on U Lifestyle, and even taking the coveted top spot ahead of Lady M in a Weekend Weekly ranking. When it comes to the menu, the undeniable crown jewel is their rich, decadent D24 durian crêpe cake. It's so wildly popular and sells out so fast that I regularly have to send them a private message on WhatsApp ahead of time just to reserve a single slice. If durian isn't your preference, the floral and fruity notes of their elderflower lychee and rose flavours are absolute top-tier recommendations that deliver an incredibly delicate balance. On the other hand, while the tiramisu crêpe cake was perfectly decent and enjoyable, it didn't quite capture the same standout magic as their fruit and floral creations. Beyond individual slices, they also craft celebration cakes tailored for birthdays or special occasions using their signature recipes. A fantastic option is that you can mix and match different flavours into a single whole cake - ideal if you want to sample a bit of everything during a celebration, or simply indulge in a variety on your own. For the absolute best experience, the cakes are finest enjoyed on the exact day you buy them, though they hold up well with a maximum shelf life of three days. Overall, Holam Bakery is a brilliant testament to local passion and craft, making it an absolute must-visit destination for any cake lover exploring Kwun Tong.
