If you want to try raw crab, Hongik Gejang is a place you should try. We ordered the premium set because we specifically wanted female crab and didn’t want an all you can eat meal, and paid $50 for the whole meal. The set came with ganjang gejang (crab marinated in soy sauce), yangnyeom gejang (crab marinated in a spicy chili sauce), shrimp and the crab soup. My favourites were the soy marinated crab and the shrimps, and my husband loved the marinated crab. The crab was incredibly fresh, and the meat melted in our mouths with no fishy smell at all, which speaks to the quality and freshness. The restaurant was very clean and sanitary, and we loved that they had a separate seating area where you can dine without your shoes, which made the experience even more comfortable for us. After a long day of walking the last thing I wanted to do was wear shoes! The service was excellent, warm and attentive, and they even have WiFi, which was a helpful bonus for us as travelers. This was our first meal in Korea, and it set the tone perfectly. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys gejang and authentic Korean seafood.
