Back in Hong Kong from U.K. and had dim-sum lunch in Hopewell Inn （合和軒） for the first time though I ate dinner here many times before. The quality of all dim-sum dishes are very good with the overall standard very high. The abalone tart (鮑魚酥）was impressive with the abalone very tender while the sauce was delicious and the crust of the tart still warm and crispy. Each deep-fried glutinous gyoza (咸水角) was made in the shape and colour of a pear, finely presented. I have to praise the dry-fried beef rice noodles (乾炒牛河) in particular. It was steaming hot when brought to my table. The beef was tender and the rice noodles were not oily at all. However, if spring onion was added, it would further elevate the taste. As for dinner, especially in summer, the pork trotter braised with salty dried plum (話梅豬手）was the star of the show. That evening, one pot was not enough to go with the rice as everyone craved for more. Steamed minced pork is normally a homey dish, but here, morel mushrooms were added on top. BBQ pork (义燒） was also outstanding. Maybe because the restaurant is part of Hopewell Hotel, the service is impeccable. All staff are very polite, friendly and attentive. It is really a joy to eat here. For sure will come again when in HK!

New traditional Chinese restaurant in wanchai area. Food it’s up to standard. Great for large group and functions. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+ Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Roast Pork, Spicy Chicken

Decent food let down by terrible service and management. Appetizers and nothing else for 1 hour. Peking Duck needed 30 minutes to find the special knife needed to carve the duck, then they had to spend another 20 minutes to find the person who can use that knife. Of course, the duck and the pancakes are served stone cold. The duck mince (second serving of the Peking Duck) has duck bone chips in it - a shame because it is otherwise delicious. Dirty silverware (see photo). Amateur waiters who ask their questions of guests but don’t approach the actual host. Steamed fish fantastic. 5 star hotel food but 大家樂 had better service. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
