I can’t give this place enough praise. We (two American travellers) couldn’t rent a car to get here so we ubered in. We arrived early for our booking and, despite not being super comfortable with English, the woman behind the desk was SO kind and helpful. Her coworker, Joseph, is who this review is really for. From the moment he came in the office he was so pleasant and helpful. He clearly relieved his coworker by speaking with us in English to help us get our room situated and he even helped us get lunch at the hotel (awesome hot pot). From there we were taken to our room - the rooms with the baths in them are incredible. They overlook the mountain and the river and they’re so well done. The bed was comfortable and the coffee, tea, and other provisions in the room were well appointed. We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner (it turned out to be someone’s house and that’s a whole different story). In the morning, our uber cancelled and yet again, Joseph swooped in to save the day. He got us a ride with someone who worked there (?!?) to the nearby bus station so we could bus back to the Miaoli HSR station. The entire experience was made by their kindness and hospitality. 10/10 journey and that’s because of the people working at Hu Shan Hot Spring Hotel. Thank you all so very much. Service: 5

Went there for dip in the Hotspring bath only - didn't stay in the Hotel. But the place is superbly tranquil. We arrived via the old Suspension bridge and that sense of arrival is splendid with breathtaking view of the valley before we reach the Hotel/Hotspring. Prices are very reasonable (if you are the hotel guest you get to use the Hotspring all day long - that is at the time of writing this review) the Public Hotspring bath itself is ok, slightly old for the indoor ones. The outdoor bath look better with good view out, but water was too hot for me. The layout of the Hotspring Bath area is alittle confusing though (but I may be a nerd to this as I seldom visit hot springs) For ladies there is a separate changing area, but for men, it is just a space leading from the lobby to the bath spaces, where ladies can access as well. Same with men's Shower area, the cubicles opens directly into the public bath area, so it is in full view and you have to be fully dressed up within the slightly tight cubicle before stepping out, bypassing the public bath area before getting out of the Hot Spring premises. That said I will likely give this Hotel a try next time I am in the country. The tranquility the Hotel offers greatly outweighs any shortcomings, in my opinion. Service: 4
