We stayed at Hu Shan Hot Spring Hotel in September 2026. The setting itself has charm: an older property on a small island in the river along a damp hiking trail, so we didn't expect it to be entirely bug-free. That said, a few things went beyond normal wear and tear. Our first room had mosquitoes and other bugs, a clogged toilet and long hair left in the bathtub and on the bathroom floor. The hotel moved us to a second room, which had horse flies, mosquitoes and a 6cm cockroach crawling out of the wall as we were getting ready for bed. We also noticed renovation materials sitting in the lobby, which points to ongoing maintenance struggles rather than a one-off. To their credit, staff were polite, apologized sincerely and issued a full cash refund without any pushback once we raised the issues. If the hot spring setting draws you in and you don't mind a rustic, older property, go in with realistic expectations about upkeep. We'd suggest asking for a freshly cleaned room and checking it thoroughly before settling in.

Our stay at this hotel was truly unforgettable. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Joseph at the front desk. His helpfulness, kindness, and genuine care made all the difference—nothing was too much to ask, and he thoughtfully assisted us with everything we needed. A true highlight was the dinner: the hotpot with fresh river sturgeon. This was not only a culinary delight but an experience in itself that we will not soon forget. The flavors, the setting, and the shared moment made it truly magical. The surroundings of the hotel are simply fairytale-like. The beautiful natural landscape, the charming suspension bridge, and the relaxing hot springs create a unique and serene atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed walking in the area and were able to completely unwind in this peaceful, almost dreamlike setting. This hotel offers more than just comfort—it creates lasting memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tranquility, nature, and outstanding personal service
