The IKEA Alexandra restaurant experience hits the sweet spot between casual dining and comforting Scandinavian fare. Walking in, you’re greeted by the familiar Swedish phrase “Smaklig måltid!” printed across the tiled walls—simple, warm, and inviting. The layout is family-friendly, with plenty of high chairs and stackable stools. It's clear they’ve thought of both solo diners and young families in the space design. Now let’s talk food. 1. Swedish Veggie Balls Combo Plate The veggie balls were the star of the plate. Firm on the outside and moist inside, they had bits of sweetcorn, peas, and carrots—clearly not the mushy kind you sometimes get. Each one soaked up the rich brown gravy nicely. They were served alongside creamy mashed potatoes with more gravy, crisp steamed mixed vegetables, and two hash-brown-style potato medallions which were crispy and herby. There was also a splash of tart lingonberry sauce on the side, adding a lovely contrast. Altogether, it was hearty without being too heavy, and visually satisfying with its earthy tones and thoughtful plating. 2. Veggie Balls with Tomato Spaghetti This dish leaned into comfort food territory. The spaghetti was generously coated in a rich tomato-based sauce that had slight herb notes—nothing too complex, just warm and satisfying. It was topped with a small mound of grated cheese, which slowly melted into the sauce. The veggie balls made a repeat appearance here, and even paired with the pasta, they held their shape and flavor well. 3. Store Finds – Moomin Coffee Before or after your meal, the Swedish Market section draws you in with whimsical packaging and niche picks. One shelf was lined with Moomin-themed coffee—"Little My Salted Caramel"—which was just too adorable to pass by. It’s the kind of quirky retail touch that makes you want to take home a bit of the IKEA world. Overall, IKEA Alexandra’s restaurant delivers what it promises—cozy, hearty food in a relaxed setting with Swedish charm. Whether you’re here for the food, the shopping, or just need a break mid-trip with your toddler in tow, it’s easy to enjoy your meal... just like they say on the wall.
