I visited this restaurant during lunchtime on a weekend. It offers a very convenient option for a quick and casual Japanese meal. While the noticeable lack of Japanese customers might suggest that the flavors are modified rather than entirely authentic, I personally appreciate the establishment for its overall accessibility and straightforward menu. The food itself serves its purpose well if you are looking for a fast bite. However, the area that requires significant improvement is the customer service. Based on my experiences across various branches of this chain, the staff interactions consistently lack a welcoming approach. The employees often appear unengaged, making it difficult to get basic assistance or feel accommodated. Because the service is repeatedly inattentive regardless of the specific location, it unfortunately detracts from the overall dining experience. While the convenience factor is certainly a positive aspect of this restaurant, the consistently lackluster service ultimately results in a rather disappointing visit. Food quality is reliable. Cheerful and friendly service from Felix. Not so much from the other, female, service staff, though. We wanted to change to another table and the restaurant was 90% empty. But she was reluctant to help. We insisted and she eventually agreed. After that she averted her face from our table so that it was hard for us to gesture to her for assistance. Felix deserved 5 star, but the female staff pulled it down to 3. We dined here at lunchtime on Sat, 4 Jul'26. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30

Ichiban Boshi at Alexandra Retail Centre is a reliable choice when you’re in the mood for a comfortable Japanese meal in a pleasant dining environment. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of booth seating that makes it suitable for both solo diners and small groups I tried the Don Don Wazen Set Meal, which came with a satisfying variety of items including salmon don, oyster egg don, tempura, chawanmushi, miso soup, and fruit for dessert. The highlight was the variety - it felt like getting to sample several different Japanese dishes in a single meal. The salmon was fresh, the tempura was light and crispy, and the chawanmushi was smooth and comforting Service was prompt, and the overall dining experience was relaxed and enjoyable. The restaurant also offers a selection of takeaway items and Japanese snacks near the entrance, which adds a nice touch The main downside is the price.
