Just by gazing at the exterior the atmosphere feels closer to Tokyo's Kando Jinbocho (神田神保町) than Seoul's Namguro (남구로) district. Just metres from the subway station and local markets this small brick building, distinguishable only by the tiny words "coffee roaster" on the window, hides one of the most popular speciality cafes in the city. Getting a seat at the cafe is not easy; Imi has a strict reservation only policy and only four counter seats are available at any one time. Open from 1230pm to 7pm Wednesday to Saturday with eight slots per day, only 32 customers a day have the oppurtunity to enjoy this incredibly unique space. However once you get inside you are treated to a coffee experience like none other available in the country. All you have to do is select the coffee you would like to try and the barista will prepare a dessert pairing course to match (please note the dessert menu changes everyday). Taking into account your personal preferences the coffee could be served simply as a brewed filter coffee or maybe even a double ristretto or piccolo from their Single Group Slayer. Simply sit down, enjoy this unique space and let Mr. Lee (owner and head roaster) do the rest. Rhim Lee has a career that stretches over 10 years and across four venues in South Korea including Imi Coffee Roasters, Go-yo Sae (고요새) in Jeju and dessert cafe Imi (이미) in the bustling student district of Hapjeong. He is a regular on the panel of the Seoul Cafe Expo and frequently holds lectures and discussions on Korean cafe culture to up and coming entrepreneurs in the industry. At the time of visiting Imi Coffee Roasters had three different coffees available including one blend, a decaf and one signature geisha: 1) Melon Candy (Ethiopia + Ethiopia) 2) Guatemala Huehuetenango Decaf 3) Colombia El Pariso Geisha (Double Anaerobic)

The cafe's concept is so creative that be bespoke for many customers. Nice coffee is served with perepct hospitality! I strongly recommend this place.
