They only accept cash, withdraw them at the ATMS at level 1 before going up! I tried the ube ensaymada, a milky yam flavoured almost brioche like sugar coated bread. Super soft texture, requires no teeth to pull apart. The ube taste is subtly fragrant and the cheese shavings adds a nice salty compliment to the sweetness. There are no fillings in this bread. Turon is like a banana creme brûlée. A Banana fried in a spring roll wrapper and glazed with a hardened layer of caramelised sugar. Bit much for me but I can see people with a sweet tooth enjoying this. Ube and cheese bread. As the name suggests, the yam is kneaded into the dough and served in the filling with cream cheese that is laughing cow like. The ube flavour is more prominent compared to the ensaymada. Came in a pack of 6. There were so many pastries to choose from! I’ll come back to try their flan soon hehe Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

I grew up with a filipino helper who would, in my memory, always bring back or make this brown-coloured glutinous dessert whenever she came back from / went to off-days or parties. I distinctly remembered the caramelised sugar and fragrant coconut taste but for years I never knew what it was called. I knew the chances of me finding this dessert would be the highest in Lucky Plaza. I had a major “aha” moment when I saw Biko in the display shelf of Inasal because I was certain that was what my mystery childhood dessert was, and sure enough it didn’t disappoint. First bite into it and I was transported back to the days of corned beef, filipino fruit salad, and polvoron, carefree days when me and my helper would listen to Gold 90 FM while eating with our hands. Sentimental stuff aside, inasal sells amazing filipino desserts ranging from halo halo, ensaymadas, cassava cakes, turon (this was amazing as well) etc. Would highly recommend checking them out when you’re in the area, but do note they are cash only.
