Looking for a recommendation for authentic and flavorful Southern Thai food in Bangkok? You must check out the Banthat Thong area! Today, after working with my friend since early morning, I invited him out for lunch and let him pick the restaurant. He had me hop on the back of his motorcycle and took me to this spot. We ordered several dishes to share, starting our meal with 'Khanom Dok Don' (a Southern Thai pancake) to open our taste buds. This was followed by oxtail soup, fried beef with garlic, Thai omelet, stir-fried mixed vegetables, grilled chicken, and orange juice. Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly filling. But the real surprise came at the end of the meal! When I went to pay the bill, my friend stopped me and said, 'My wife’s treating us today. This is my house!' It turns out he frequently brings his friends and all kinds of people to eat here. I’d highly recommend trying the local dessert, 'Khanom Dok Don.' It was my very first time having it, and it was wonderfully sweet, rich, and delicious.
