Insane meal!! One of my favorites in Korea so far. This is a very local spot, I was the only non-Korean speaker. They are extremely busy at mealtimes (I had a short wait when I visited for lunch), so don’t take it personally that the staff are too busy running around getting stuff done rather than trying to help you. I got the mukhoe (18,000 KRW) which came with an extremely generous amount of sides. They serve the sliced raw fish on a plate. You can add part of the fish into the bowl with julienned cucumbers, Korean pear, seaweed, add the tangy cold broth, mix everything up, and eat with rice. It’s so perfect on a hot summer’s day. The rest of the fish you can eat as a wrap with the lettuce, perilla leaf and ssamjang and garlic provided. It also comes with a small side of tempura, nigiri, and a wonderful spicy fish bone soup that is bubbling away on the hot plate while you eat your mukhoe. Then at the end of the meal they bring a scorched rice porridge (nurungji? nurungji juk?) which is a lovely palate cleanser after all those intense flavors. Off the usual tourist beaten path especially for non-Koreans but if you’re adventurous and willing to venture past the tourist-friendly kimbap, bibimbap etc, give this place a try!
