Anytime I'm in Bangkok I stay within walking distance of SIAM Takashimaya. Located near the entrance on the ground floor level of Icon Siam Mall, you can't miss the Takashimaya grocery on one side, and several rows of food counters on the other. J's Bakery is one of the places I'll visit numerous times during a stay in Bangkok. Offering sweet and savory options, as well as fresh bread, all baked right in front of you, there is something tasty for everyone. My favorites are the chicken buns, ham and cheese buns (pretty much any bun is great!) and the chocolate messy. Living up to its name, it is messy to eat but tastes great. lighter than a brownie, dusted with cocoa and filled with chocolate (and sometimes vanilla), this is a decadent, must try dessert for chocolate lovers! J's Bakery prices are quite inexpensive for the level of quality and freshness you get. I was so disappointed to find them closed for annual maintenance on my last day in Bangkok recently! Stopped by J’s Bakery by Yamazaki at ICONSIAM (inside Siam Takashimaya) while roaming around the mall, and it turned out to be a really nice sweet break. The first thing that catches your eye is how neatly everything is displayed — all the breads and desserts just look super inviting. I tried a couple of things, including a cream bun and a soft cake, and both were really fresh and light. What I liked most is that nothing was overly sweet, which is honestly rare for dessert places. They’ve got a good mix of options — from fluffy breads to small pastries and cakes — so it’s easy to just pick something on the go. It’s not really a place where you sit and chill for long, more like a quick stop while exploring the mall. Prices felt reasonable for ICONSIAM standards, especially considering the quality. Overall, a great little spot if you’re craving something sweet but don’t want anything too heavy. I’d definitely pick this over the usual sugary dessert chains.
