Went to Kamon today and it was an absolute treat. Amazing food, amazing ambience, and amazing service. Shah in particular was super friendly, even though it was my family's first time here and we were quite confused with the menu and item choices! We decided last minute to dine at Ka-Mon to celebrate my friend’s birthday after a long day at USS. The staff were fantastic. We were first shown to a small two-seater near the window, but when we asked for a quieter spot, the team patiently moved us to a high-table in the corner — definitely a better choice with more space and a calmer atmosphere. Daniel took our order and gave great recommendations. Throughout the meal he, along with a few other staff members, was consistently attentive. For starters, we had the Wagyu beef tartare and the Momotaro tomato salad. The tartare was well-balanced with the gochujang, and the papadum added a nice crunch. The standout, though, was the tomato salad — the tomato was naturally sweet and paired beautifully with the dashi jelly and avocado purée. From the robatayaki menu, we ordered the striploin and jumbo squid. The beef was cooked slightly more towards medium than medium rare, but it was still juicy and tender. The squid wasn’t tough at all, though I would have liked a bit more char. The Chef’s Selection sashimi was fresh, though not the best I’ve had. We also tried the garlic fried rice with sakura ebi and Tomoko — the textures were great and the flavours were well-balanced, though I personally prefer a stronger garlic aroma. For dessert, the Yuzu Crème Brûlée was lovely — not too sweet or sour. The staff also surprised my friend with a complimentary mochi and candle for her birthday, and even gifted us two adorable charms. Such a thoughtful touch! Overall, Ka-Mon may not be a place I’d rush back for the food alone, but the warm hospitality and attentive service really stood out.
