We chose Kaiyo at K11 MUSEA for my fiancée’s birthday lunch with our family, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Before everyone arrived, I specifically told the staff that I would be paying the bill. Despite these clear instructions, the bill was presented to my fiancée’s father instead, which was awkward and unnecessary on what should have been a special family occasion. The food itself was just okay. The portions were small, and while the flavours were decent, they certainly did not justify the price. At over HKD $500 per person for a relatively simple lunch, the overall value for money was poor. What stood out most, however, was the service. The manager was unfriendly and unwelcoming, and several staff members came across as rude rather than hospitable. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, especially when they are celebrating an important occasion, and that was completely missing. To make matters worse, there was no flexibility regarding a birthday cake. We were required to pay a HKD $200 cake-cutting fee, plus a 10% service charge, despite already spending a significant amount on lunch. It felt unnecessarily rigid and left a poor impression. Overall, this was not the level of service or hospitality I would expect from a restaurant in K11 MUSEA. There are many other restaurants in Hong Kong that offer better food, better value, and, most importantly, much warmer service. Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend Kaiyo for a special occasion. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $500+
