Not really a fan of Plara (fermented fish), but Kai Yok Krok has made it so umami that I just couldn’t resist. I ended up finishing super large plate is Somtam Plara Seafood (papaya salad with fermented fish and seafood) all by myself. Another dish is Koong Cha Nampla (fresh shrimp in fish sauce). The seafood dipping sauce came in a mini krok (mortar) - just like the restaurant’s name. And it’s truly zaab! Great variety of Somtam and E-Sarn dishes, and I like that we can order Somtam to fit our own taste. The staff, apart from knowing the menu well, are attentive, friendly, and quick to notice when you need something. There’s also plenty of parking space with staff assisting at the lot, which makes it really convenient. No air-conditioned, but ventilation is good. Looks like Kai Yok Krok has officially made it onto my monthly agenda - can’t wait to come back!
