Came for the chicken rice only, and thought it was pretty good! The chicken was tender and paired with a good light sauce, and was a good portion for the price in Tiong Bahru, especially when it’s air conditioned chilli was spicy as well, and tastes great when paired with ginger too. The only downside is the rice where it wasn’t as oily as I would like, hence losing a bit of that chicken rice fragrance. Good plate of chicken rice, a solid 4 stars and one that I would have anyday Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 1–10 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Kampong Chicken Eating House is a pretty affordable spot for a quick meal. A plate of chicken rice with soup costs only $5.60, which is quite reasonable, though the portion is on the smaller side — I added a braised egg to make it more filling. The sauce is quite salty, and the rice isn’t very fragrant, so flavour-wise it’s nothing exceptional. However, considering the price point, it’s still alright for a simple, budget-friendly meal. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 1–10 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
