Food was good. But the woman waitstaff couldn’t tell the difference between Fugu Kaarage (pufferfish) and fried Chicken. She also got the wine pairing wrong and forgot to adjust the bill. There was no menu to describe what we ate and finally the private room became a communal room because they ran out of space. Finally, most of the food was well considered but they deliberately added a caviar and white truffle dish at the beginning to justify the Michelin. You should be proud of your food; don’t cynically pander to the Michelin. Not bad but definitely not best in class Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Staying at the associated ryokan Kanamean Nishitomiya, I did not expect that much from this restaurant, but but my expectations were completely blown out of the water. This teppanyaki kappo meal was one of the best and well executed meals in my two weeks in Japan, and truly deserved its one Michelin star. An absolute stunner of a restaurant with delicious grilled bites all along the way, great wine pairings, and the service top notch and engaging. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Please ignore every one star review before and after this. I thought the best meals of my life were behind me, but I've never experienced anything like this before. Not only was the food absolutely superb, but the atmosphere combined created a truly unique experience. The chefs are dedicated to their craft. The owner is quirky and hospitable. Our course connoisseur guided us through our 12 course meal such that we felt a sense of connection that makes me feel like I've missed this in every other meal in my life. I hope to come back in the future and catch up in their lives. And I hope you enjoy this experience as much as I do. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
