Many seats on a Saturday night for dinner and decided to give it a try. Scan to order or order at counter. Located inside Tangs B1. Ordered Chargrill Chicken at $12.90 and Ayakata Green Tea at $3. Food portion is generous. Taste great and food serves hot! Wooden tables with Ikea wooden chairs. Self serve cutlery with tissues provided. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: No vegetarian option

Thoroughly satisfied with the meal! Was looking for a comfort meal and came here for their chicken katsu curry rice $9.90 lunch set (comes w salad). Topped up refillable hot green tea for $1.50. Portions were just nice, really enjoyed the salad. The extra crunchy stuff (not sure what it is) was a very nice touch. The chicken katsu was perfectly cooked, it was tender and juicy. I love it so much. The curry was different from the usual ones but I think I prefer this as it doesn't leave you with that heavy/stuffed feeling after finishing your meal, which I really appreciate. It was more veggie based (with lots of carrots and some potato bits, I think) so it feels more light and has a very slight sweetness to it, but it still provided the warmth from comfort food that I needed. Value-for-Money Gem in Orchard If you are looking for an authentic Japanese meal that doesn't break the bank, Karēkami (formerly of Fusionopolis, now at Tang Plaza) is a standout choice. Located in the revamped TANGS basement, it manages to bridge the gap between "express" convenience and high-quality Japanese flavors. It’s an excellent spot for a casual meal in the heart of Orchard Road. The Food & Quality The most impressive aspect of Karēkami is the quality-to-price ratio. While many mall eateries offer localized, sweeter versions of Japanese curry, Karēkami serves a version that is slightly spicier and more robust—perfectly suited for those who find traditional Japanese curry a bit too mild. Whether it’s the audibly crisp Pork Tonkatsu or the hearty Chicken Katsu, the execution far exceeds what you would expect for the price. The "Beer Deal" A unique perk for diners here is the inclusion of Sapporo beer. At many Orchard restaurants, ordering a beer can significantly inflate the bill, but here the pricing is remarkably fair—comparable to buying a can at a supermarket like NTUC. Having a cold, premium lager alongside a piping hot bowl of curry without the typical restaurant markup is a rare find. Pricing & Value The value is undeniable: a satisfying meal for three pax, including Sapporo beer, came to just S$52. At roughly S$17 per person, it is incredibly difficult to find this level of quality and portion size—let alone alcohol—at such a price point in the Orchard area. Verdict Karēkami is proof that "express" doesn't have to mean "low quality." It offers: Authentic, bold flavors with a local spicy twist. Supermarket-equivalent pricing for beer. Exceptional value for a group meal in a premium location. Highly recommended for a quick, delicious, and budget-friendly Japanese fix while you're at TANGS!
