I was very excited to try the world's first Kiehl's coffee house, as Kiehl's products and coffee are two of my favourite things. The cafe is tucked in neatly next to the kiehl's store inside the Mitsukoshi building and immediately draws the eye with it's clean and bright decor. Taking pride of place in the display fridge are the selection of carefully crafted cakes. The frosting on the red velvet cupcake was some of the best I've tasted - light, zesty and a hint of spice. The calendula latte was pleasant on the palate (it tastes exactly like the Kiehl's calendula hydration masque, but in coffee form), however I found the espresso lacking in boldness. This seems to be the taiwanese style, but in this case it does work with the delicate whisper of calendula. I hope to see these opening up in new locations (especially Melbourne!).
