First of all, thank you for the compliment regarding our food—we are genuinely glad to hear that you found the meal decent. However, we were quite surprised by your feedback on the bill. We contemplated ignoring this, but your review makes it sound like we served you an omakase-style surprise menu with no prices indicated. To clarify for everyone else reading: you selected and placed every single order yourself from a fully transparent menu. If you were blindsided by a total that was 'three times more expensive than expected,' it was entirely within your own control. Let’s fix the math while we're at it. We tracked down your bill based on your feedback of $76/pax. Your total was actually $448.60 for a party of 7. That averages out to $64 per person, inclusive of tax—not the $76 you claimed. And what did that $64 buy? Your table crushed our Meat Lover Set featuring 10 different kinds of meats, an ala carte Duroc Pork Belly, Jumbo USA & Japanese Scallops—totalling a massive 2.6kg of food. This is completely excluding the vegetable basket, free-flow lettuce and kimchi, paired with the 10 beverages ordered. That is nearly 400g of food per person. But we actually appreciate you posting this, as it gives us the perfect opportunity to explain why our pricing is intentional to everyone else reading this. You mentioned you'd prefer to go to Golden Mile next time. We totally get it if your budget is more aligned with a coffee shop setup, so here’s what you actually paid for at Kin Tub: • The Meats: Our meats aren't standard commercial market meat. We source curated Duroc and Iberico pork from Spain, USDA-graded beef, Australian and Japanese Wagyu—matching the quality standards of premium Korean BBQs. • The Drinks: Those 10 beverages included our house-made fruit teas, which are crafted entirely from scratch using fresh fruits and a natural sugar extraction process. • The Setup: Instead of standard gas stoves, we invest in authentic charcoal setups and customized, thick anodized aluminum Teflon-coated grills designed for food safety, superior heat retention, and a proper sear. • The Sauces & Condiments: Our Thai Suki and Seafood sauces are freshly made daily from scratch to ensure a real flavor punch. Alongside this, we serve up free condiments of fresh chilli padi, garlic, thai coriander, green lemon, and fried garlic. • The Vibe: Your party dined at our outdoor alfresco area overlooking the Singapore River for four hours (from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM). Four hours of prime riverside real estate doesn't exactly compare to a coffee shop setting. To compare this to Golden Mile is a stretch. As an avid foodie, you would have easily tasted the difference, and we hope future comparisons are made with a bit more accuracy. A truly fair review would have been: 'The restaurant serves premium cuts with a charcoal grill and an outdoor Singapore River dining experience. However, I prefer budget-friendly, no-frills dining, so the premium experience wasn't worth the extra spend for me.' We completely respect if a premium price point means we aren't an everyday dining choice for everyone. However, implying that we charge three times more for the exact same products found at coffee shops is simply factually incorrect and misleading! To everyone else reading this who actually loves premium meats, fresh sauces, a great vibe, and a proper charcoal grill—we invite you down to taste the difference.
