Ppl who like regular zi char yangzhou fried rice at hawker centre probably won’t like this at all. Ordered plain egg fried rice. Was confused as it came so quickly. All through my way home, the smell of fried rice came wafting but no zi char smell, I knew it was probably not good but still had some hope. Went home, opened the box and lo and behold the rice is all sticky and in clumps. It was visibly moist like freshly steamed rice which isn’t supposed to be. Scallion isn’t cut properly (got white part inside) and when I taste it, there’s no zi char at all. They probably put minimal seasoning, so had to add my pickled green chili and bird eye chili to it to even make it taste like something cuz it just have rice+egg+pepper taste (I would gladly eat hard boiled egg cooked in salt water cuz it has more taste than this). I threw the chili oil they gave after I tasted it as it was bitter and tasted like that Lao Gan Ma Crisp, no sweet nor salty taste, no fragrance either. Couldn’t finish the fried rice, had to dump half of it into the bin. Can’t believe that I’m making a review this fast (like 5 min after I finished the food) cuz it’s the most horrible fried rice I’ve ever eaten other than the home cooked one I made when I was like 12. And it costs $5.20 (30c takeaway fee) which is atrocious cuz I can get a way better one with crab stick and fake char siew and zi char fragrance at the hawker centre near here, at seafood park, which cost $4.80 only and with huge portion (400+g compared to this measly 300+g, I weighed it with my scale cuz dieting, and what a waste of my calories). Only decided to buy from here cuz standards have been slipping at seafood park BUT it’s still way better than here. Doubt this is how Din Tai Fung taste like tho I’ve never eaten DTF and am planning to it. Cashier auntie was very pleasant and helpful tho, food terrible. Tried many outlets of fried rice from king of fried rice before, this outlet is still the best one! Chef is good, cashier Angela is also helpful and friendly throughout the ordering process. [Saying this because i encountered many rude ones before from king of fried rice] Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
