A hidden treasure, the food and service is excellent. I enjoyed every dish, savoured every skewer, and the staff were gracious and friendly. Definitely a place I will return to over and over again. Just a bit of attention is needed to tidy up the toilet every hour would make a world of difference. And having a nice disposable table napkin (like a Duni) would uplift the quality instead of Tempo tissues. But other than that, the meal was 5 stars and excellent. We recently enjoyed a delightful dinner at Kinki Yakitori (近畿日式串燒專門店) in To Kwa Wan. It’s conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the MTR station. Since the place is quite popular, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Unlike many typical izakayas in Hong Kong that tend to be dimly lit, this restaurant maintains a bright, welcoming vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The owner is incredibly friendly and sociable, offering excellent recommendations based on the freshest ingredients of the day. The food was truly outstanding, with a wide variety of textures and flavors. The Grilled White Eel ($78) was a highlight—tender, perfectly charred, and meltingly delicious. Another memorable dish unexpectedly was the Grilled Corn, which was honestly one of the best I’ve ever tasted; its fresh, sweet flavor was simply unforgettable. We also tried the Beef Tongue ($48) and Angus Short-Rib ($68), both of which were juicy and rich in flavor. For something unique, the Grilled Dried Puffer-Fish ($78) and crispy Chicken Skin ($38) were perfect snacks to try. To finish, the Mentaiko Onigiri ($48) was comforting and satisfying. Pairing these delicious skewers with a cold Sapporo Premium Beer ($84) made for such a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The total bill came to around $380 per person, which we felt offered very good value for the quality of food and service. It’s a fantastic spot that we will definitely be revisiting soon.
