Tl:dr 5 stars - very good food at an affordable price , with excellent wine as an added bonus. We were genuinely and very pleasantly surprised by Koh Chang Wine Gallery. The quality of the food was excellent, the prices were much more reasonable than we expected, and of course there is also a very good selection of wine. For us, this was one of those places you discover almost by accident and are very happy you did. We were spending some time in Kai Bae, a little further away from our hotel, and were simply looking for a nice place to have dinner. We walked from restaurant to restaurant, stopping to look at the menus. After several weeks in Thailand we had enjoyed a lot of Thai food, which was generally very good, but naturally there had also been quite a lot of rice. Our son was really in the mood for some proper meat and our daughter mainly wanted fries. By this point, after looking at yet another menu, our children were also becoming increasingly impatient with my “restaurant search”, so it was definitely time to make a decision. Luckily, Koh Chang Wine Gallery turned out to be a very good one. Our children ordered the Wagyu beef burger and the cheeseburger, and both were very happy with their choice. We decided to share several tapas dishes, including mushrooms al ajillo, gambas al ajillo and patatas fritas. Everything we tried was very tasty, well prepared and clearly made with good-quality ingredients. The food was better than we had expected, without the prices becoming unreasonable. The hamburger were the best they have had in Thailand and maybe even outside of Thailand. The tapas tasted really good. The service was friendly, attentive and quick, which was especially appreciated after our long search with two hungry children. Compliments to the chef as well, because everything coming from the kitchen was excellent. The person we assumed to be the owner was also present in the background. The restaurant itself is also worth mentioning. It is combined with a wine shop and is very well maintained and nicely decorated. The tables are set with white tablecloths, there is plenty of space between them, and the whole place has a comfortable and slightly more upscale feeling while still being relaxed enough for a family dinner. It is located in one of the narrower streets in Kai Bae with several restaurants around it. Parking a motorbike nearby can therefore be a little tricky when it is busy, but that is really only a minor point. In short: *very good food at an affordable price* , with *excellent wine* as an added bonus. We came in almost by chance and left very impressed. A real asset to Koh Chang and a restaurant we would happily recommend to both families and couples looking for something a little different from the usual Thai restaurant.
