Kuo Roll En – Looks Promising, but Lacks Warmth This dessert spot caught our attention with eye-catching posters highlighting key flavours like black sesame, green tea, Marian plum, and Thai tea — all distinctly Japanese-inspired. The variety was quite overwhelming, so we settled on the classic Mochi Mochi Anmitsu to start. Taste-wise: • The green tea ice cream was overly bitter and lacked balance. • The black sesame was rich and flavorful — the best part of the dessert. • The kuromitsu syrup complemented the ice cream nicely, but adding the matcha sauce only made things more bitter. What really detracted from the experience, though, was the poor service. The staff appeared unfriendly and unhelpful, which felt disappointing for a place styled after a Japanese dessert shop — where hospitality is usually a highlight. At 325 baht, it’s also on the expensive side, and given the lacklustre service, it’s not surprising that the nearby Mixue outlet was buzzing with customers in comparison. ごちそうさまでした — but sadly, not a place I’d rush back to.
