La Po Po Chicken Rice on Witthayu Road was such a great find. The Hainanese chicken rice was absolutely delicious and genuinely took me straight back to Singapore. The chicken was incredibly tender, juicy and full of flavour, with that beautifully smooth texture you expect from a proper Hainanese chicken rice. The rice was just as impressive, fragrant, flavoursome and cooked perfectly. Combined with the different sauces, especially the chilli, every bite had that authentic balance of savoury, spicy and aromatic flavours. The clear soup on the side was light and comforting, and the soft egg and cucumber were perfect additions to the meal. What impressed me most was how authentic the whole experience felt. I have eaten plenty of chicken rice in Singapore, and this is probably the closest I have found in Bangkok. For a moment, I honestly felt like I was sitting in Singapore rather than on Witthayu Road. Simple food done extremely well. Great ingredients, generous portions, beautiful presentation and fantastic flavour. If you love Hainanese chicken rice or are missing the flavours of Singapore, La Po Po is definitely worth visiting. I will absolutely be coming back again.
