**Extremely disappointing birthday experience** I visited Lala Hong Kong two days ago to celebrate my birthday, and I am still extremely upset about how the evening was handled. My friend had requested a birthday arrangement, yet nothing was ever brought to our table. What made it even worse was seeing plenty of other birthdays being celebrated throughout the restaurant that night. I was apparently the only birthday guest who received no cake, no candles, and no recognition whatsoever. I want to be clear that I really did mind this oversight. I simply chose not to voice my disappointment at the time because I was my friend’s guest, and I felt it would have been impolite to make an issue of it during the evening. However, from the restaurant’s perspective, this treatment was completely unacceptable. A special request had been made in advance, and it was ignored without any explanation. This was supposed to be a pleasant and memorable birthday celebration, but the dinner felt no different from an ordinary meal. Why choose a restaurant for a special occasion if the occasion is completely overlooked? The experience was incredibly frustrating, embarrassing, and disappointing. If you’re planning to celebrate a birthday or any other meaningful occasion at Lala Hong Kong, think twice. Based on my experience, special arrangements may be ignored, while other guests receive the celebration they were promised. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+

I just want to say thank you for coming down to LALA to celebrate a birthday with your friends.I also want to give my sincere apologies that we completely missed the birthday arrangement that was requested, and nothing was brought to your table. Seeing other birthday celebrations happening around the room while yours was not acknowledged at all must have felt awful. We are not part of a big group or restaurant chain. This is genuinely Chef and my restaurant and we really do care about every guest, so it hurts us even more when someone has a bad experience — especially on a birthday.I’ve already spoken with the team to understand exactly how this was missed, and we’ve put a clear check-in step in place so that any special occasions requested in advance are confirmed before guests arrive and again before dessert.I’m messaging you from my private number — if there is anything I can do, or if you’d ever consider coming back, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We came here for a friend’s celebration. We ordered 4 sharing starters, one whole chicken, and beef cheek. The sharing starters of pate, beef tartar, salad, and Hamarchi was well prepared and fresh. The chicken was golden and juicy with the right amount of seasoning. The beef cheek was rich sauce and was so tender it melts in your mouth. It is pricey but worth a treat now and an again. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: HK$500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Fantastic food!! Really good service as well. we got the sharing menu and the beef tartare. everything was super tasty from the beginning to end. Portions were great for the price too! Dessert was extra tasty, especially the hazelnut one. 100% Recommend everyone to try the sharing menu. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: HK$500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
