The food is just moderate when it comes to their new launch cakes. Wow, I got to say that the pound cakes are not bad, but not for the mini cakes. The environment is honestly quite noisy and there are quite a lot of echoes in the hotel itself. It can get really noisy and quite uncomfortable with the sound being loud. In terms of service, I would say that it’s just moderate. They could smile more and walk with more grace that would be fantastic. On the other hand, it will be also great that they improve their English and try to speak internationally, but not with Singlish, or in a very structured way of communication. Would it be worthwhile returning for more cakes? I would say it would be just for the pounds. It will be great that they could reduce their sugar because I find it too sweet. Price per person: SGD 70–80 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

This was one of the saddest high tea experience I have ever encountered throughout Singapore. I was pretty excited when I first walked into the hotel anticipated to have my taste buds satisfied but everything went downhill. Server wasn’t even enthusiastic at all. It was clear enough that they had to force themselves to smile at us, which is fine as I probably caught them on a bad day. Now, on to the much advertised “Durian high tea”. The taste was legitimately laughable for the quality of a 5 star hotel and the prices charged. Atmosphere was warm and humid and it really did affect the mood. The most questionable part throughout the high tea was how tough and dry the “savoury” bread was, I had difficulties cutting and chewing it for someone who still has all my teeth intact, not to mention the lacklustre of taste. The main star was supposed to be the durian dessert theme, as it was what attracted us here. But oh boy, how terribly disappointed we truly were. It wasn’t nice AT ALL, most of it were random mixtures of soggy cakes with durian puree or cream adding on to some random toppings. We couldn’t even finish it and I had to zone myself out most of the time to just try and eat as much as possible to minimise the wastage of food. The best part of it all? The bill was around $206++. We were told that we had to spend a minimum of $250 of dining in to “qualify” for any parking coupon after putting us through this ordeal. I gave it an extra star due to the quality of TWG tea options and the coffee wasn’t bad at all. But i urge you to improve the overall quality of the taste of the food given that it’s in one of the most iconic areas in Singapore and giving us value to what we actually paid for.
