Located at the 2nd floor back corner of Lucky Plaza Mall is Lucky Chicken Rice. 2 Person Dine-in, we ordered the 2-person serving with extra meat, rice, beansprout and lime juice totaling $26. The outlet gives off a very old school food canteen feel with tables and chairs plotted closely to one another while the staff are bustling about serving the customers. We ordered the 2-person serving add meat of both the white and roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was not tough but lacked the roasted aroma that is unique to the roasted chicken. The white chicken tasted better which was soft and tender. The soy sauce used to drench and flavor the chicken was on the saltier side. The rice was not oily and had a hint of chicken rice fragrance. Sadly, the beansprouts were average at best with bits of cuttlefish. Flavorful soup and sauce condiments, such as a decent chili that was spicy enough, paired with ginger and black sauce. Staff service was prompt but tend to feel rushed and pushy without giving customers time to consider their options especially when no menu is provided. They only accept cash payment so please have cash on hand. It is also on the pricier side of chicken rice seeing that half a chicken costs you $30 which at most hawkers is already a few dollars shy from a whole chicken. Chicken rice is a very common dish in Singapore and the one served here is average to slightly below average tasting at best. You can easily find equally or better tasting chicken rice in Singapore for cheaper or more value for money.
