マスターカード尽くしの優雅なアフタヌーンティー FWDのビル内にあるとびきりおしゃれなレストランでアフタヌーンティーを体験しました。 訪れたのは、とあるマスターカードが経営してるレストラン 店内はアンティーク調の家具で統一され、ノスタルジックでありながら洗練された雰囲気が漂っています。テーブルに着くと、まず目を引くのがそこらじゅうにマスターカードのロゴがあしらわれた置物達、そしてマスターカードを意識したユニークなマカロン！遊び心満載で、食べるのがもったいないほどでした。 提供されたアフタヌーンティーは、甘いものとしょっぱいもののバランスが絶妙でした。 繊細な味わいのプティフールやスコーン、そして彩り豊かな食べ物達が美しく並べられ、どれも見た目だけでなく味も一流。 特に、甘さ控えめのスイーツと、素材の味が引き立つセイボリーの組み合わせは、最後まで飽きさせない工夫が凝らされていました。 紅茶の種類も豊富で、それぞれのフードに合わせたペアリングも楽しめます。ゆったりとした時間を過ごせる空間は、友人との語らいや、大切な人とのひとときにぴったり。 細部にまでこだわりを感じる演出と、質の高い料理の数々は、期待をはるかに超える満足感を与えてくれました。 香港での特別な思い出作りに、ぜひおすすめしたい場所です。. Cafe BAU in Wanchai has relocated to Luma at 1881. After a great experience at Cafe BAU earlier this year we decided to visit them at their new venue for a friend’s birthday. Which turned out to be a terrible experience. First of all the service was horrendous. Dishes were brought out and put down in front of us with a clang with naught an introduction or explanation. The venue was mostly empty so we didn’t understand why the waiter was in such a hurry (I thought I was eating at a cha chan teng ffs!) I had to ask for their menu to put in front of me to identify what I was eating. Second, we ordered a wine pairing and somehow they forgot about it after the first glass. We had to remind them when the main course was served and by the time the meal was almost over. I don’t think anyone was intentionally rude, but the service level was miles away from what we experienced before in Wanchai. We’re talking about 9/10 compared with 4/10 here. Thirdly the food was mediocre. Perhaps the service affected our tasting but it felt rushed and less refined than before. It wasn’t bad per se but nothing was memorable (Wanchai experience was 9/10, so I have no idea what happened). Even the supposedly signature chicken dish was quite lacklustre. Overall it seems like they changed the whole team behind BAU and sadly felt like a very different restaurant from the Wanchai original. Total damage was over $5k which was utterly not worth it for this level of service and food unfortunately. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+
