I really enjoyed the strawberry matcha latte I ordered here during my trip to Nara! I had a lovely conversation with the owner who spoke a solid amount of English after having spent some time living in the Gold Coast. Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The barista was friendly and the overall vibe of the place was hip. The matcha however was quite underwhelming. It was so thin that it fully dissolved in the milk and I tasted more milk than matcha really. Premium matcha like this is supposed to be creamy with the umami flavour. I couldn't justify the ¥800 price tag for this, sorry. Meal type: Other Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Matcha is naturally smooth and blends well with milk, which is why high-quality matcha doesn’t leave a chalky residue or overpower the drink. Instead,it enhances the milk with its delicate umami notes. We understand that not everyone is accustomed to the subtle complexity of authentic matcha, but we appreciate you giving it a try!
