Now if there's one Thai street food I can never get enough of its stir-fried mama noodles. Especially those with loads of wok hei, so whenever I come across any Thai eatery, if they have those noodles, you can be sure its a must order for me. Over the course of maybe about 15 to 18 years I have eaten mama noodles from Singapore to Malaysia and to the streets of BKK even, I wont call myself an expert but I know a good one when I see one. Which brings me to today's entrant. MC Thai whose does a one up on just about every store I tried by introducing the classic dish with a Tom Yum twist. Yes, one of my favourite soups gets its seasoning infused into fried noodles. The result, an immensely satisfying flavour combining my fav bits about tom yum - the tangy, sweet, sour and spicy while the wok hei essence stays in the aroma, add on a healthy serving of cabbage, carrots and kailan with a protein of my choice and you have a very convincing plate of noodles that works so well. For what it is, this beats hands down so many other more established eateries. Simply awesome, will be back for more and possibly try other dishes too. Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5

Very very underrated basil pork rice (add creamy omelette). Easily the best basil pork rice I’ve ever had in Singapore. Could be a little bit spicier but basil is v fresh and there’s actually thought put into making a ‘relatively straightforward’ dish. Creamy omelette is also consistently made to perfection. Bought to takeaway 4 times and all 4 times were perfect. How?!?! Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Basil Minced Pork with Rice & Egg

I’ve been a loyal customer of MC Thai Kitchen since their early days in Yishun, and I’m so happy to see how they’ve grown and moved to Serangoon. The consistency in their food over the years is honestly impressive. My all-time favourite has always been their basil pork rice — it’s packed with flavour, perfectly seasoned, and always hits the spot. No matter how many times I order it, it never disappoints. Recently, they introduced a new special dish — the yellow ginger minced pork rice — and it’s just as amazing. The fragrance of the ginger adds a unique twist, making it both comforting and addictive. It’s rare to find a place that maintains quality while evolving their menu, but they’ve definitely done it. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic and satisfying Thai food!
