Maeli is a true Lamai legend. I first visited this bar back in 2016, when it was still tucked away on the corner of Beach Road. Even then, Maeli stood out – always friendly, always charming, with her iconic cherry-red lipstick. Today the bar has moved to a nearby street and offers more space, but the soul of the place is exactly the same. The food is still excellent: perfect burgers, a surprisingly good goulash soup, pear soup, and a very solid Bolognese. Cold beer, fair prices, and food that’s made with care – no frills, just honest quality. Maeli and the team (especially in July) are incredibly welcoming, making you feel like a regular from the first minute. This is a simple, cozy place with delicious comfort food at very reasonable prices – the kind of bar you keep coming back to. Highly recommended if you’re in Lamai and want something authentic. Service was super friendly and attentive. We had Spagbol & chicken burger. Both where cooked nice. The Spaghetti had a bit too much liquid for my taste and portion wise I found it a bit small. The red wine was served in a really nice glass and was delicious. Popular with Swiss expats. Nothing to praise about it but nothing to overly complain about.
