We stumbled across Mama Torti late at night on the second floor after peeking in the door. It holds maybe ten people and we were immediately welcomed in by the most beautiful and gracious owner and her regular locals! All in their 50s and Kyoto OGs. Omg they were beyond sweet and funny. So much love. We sang and laughed with them until well past midnight. It was one of those travel nights we'll never forget. Solid basic drinks, some surprisingly good little food snacks (get the salami and smoked cheese!), and COFFEE SOJU fermented for over a week by the owner! It's seriously homemade and puts a coffee martini to shame on taste. Don't come here for the Instagram pics because it is basic...come here to experience local love. A night to truly remember in a place so far off the beaten path I had to add it to Google Maps even though it's been open over ten years! (Have a translator app ready and if you play the guitar...bonus!) Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
