The sprawling Mammoth Resort is a bucolic affair carved into its own unique corner of the city, the multi-level structure rich in detailed carpentry screened with abundant shrubbery. Inside, the hotel has an ample lobby, full of traditional crafts. My room was located on the second floor along a long hallway, smallish, basic, but with a king-sized bed and not-too-hard mattress, cabinetry with space to pack away belongings, a fridge and medium-sized T.V. screen, kettle, a mini-bar, and a basic bathroom, all relatively clean. The room also had a writing desk. There was a small balcony separated from the room by a full-sized glass sliding door, overlooking a small parking lot, but flanked by flowering frangipani. A simple breakfast was included, served in a large, glass-enclosed atrium facing a beautiful garden. Breakfast was simple, with several Thai meat options, porridge, and toast and jam. This is a very special place with a huge amount of character and beautiful touches, and the highlight of my stay in Khon Kaen. The place is also located across the highway from the Ton Tann market. Welcoming staff, clean room and facilities. Nice spa vibes as soon as you walk in with Thai spa music and fragrance as soon as you walk through reception. 2 free bottle waters and minibar in the room, crisps/ chips is 20baht per bag, hot chocolate 20baht, additional bottle waters 10baht each. Decent. Service: 5

The furniture is old, but the room is spacious and airy, as is the bathroom. The shower has excellent water flow. However, there's a very bad smell coming from the bathroom. The air conditioner, like the room, is old and makes so much noise it's impossible to sleep. Breakfast was practically nonexistent. There was nothing free, not even tea or coffee. Only two bottles of water were available. Overall, the price was good, so I might come again, but don't have high expectations. Service: 2
