At Maruhachi (T4 Transit Area, Changi Airport), the Pork Katsu Don Set Meal ($13.90) came with shredded cabbage in sesame sauce and miso soup. The pork cutlet looked crispy but lost crunch under the egg and sauce, leaving the batter soggy though the meat stayed succulent. Rice was piping hot, slightly sticky, and flavoured with savoury sauce seeping from the cutlet, adding a touch of greasiness. The egg, partially flowy and jammy, stuck to the batter, further softening it. Despite the texture trade‑off, the bowl was hearty, comforting, and filling — a satisfying pre‑flight meal with classic donburi flavours.
