I rarely say this, but this place is truly highly recommended. I brought my husband and brother-in-law to Med@59JCT, and the experience exceeded my already high expectations. Located in a prime spot in Joo Chiat, the restaurant is set within a beautifully preserved heritage house. The design and atmosphere immediately stand out. You can feel the care and intention behind every detail, from the thoughtfully curated interior to the unique plates collected from the owners’ travels around the world. Everything feels clean, cohesive, and quietly sophisticated. Dinner was prepared by Al, featuring Moroccan-inspired home-style cuisine. Each dish was thoughtfully designed, with flavours that flowed beautifully from one course to the next. You can tell there is real consideration behind how each dish complements the overall experience. What impressed me most was the hospitality. Both Al and Natalie were incredibly warm and engaging. They took the time to chat with us, share stories behind the dishes, and explain the origins of the ingredients. It made the meal feel much more meaningful, and we found ourselves appreciating every bite on a deeper level. We also spoke about wine, as my brother-in-law enjoys fine dining and wine pairing. Al generously offered pairings that complemented the food perfectly, which elevated the entire experience. Al is able to do a wide variety of cuisines beyond what we had. I will definitely return with my family. Overall, it was a multi-sensory dining experience, where thoughtful design, storytelling, warm humour, excellent food, and genuine hospitality come together beautifully. Had a wonderful dining experience here with host Al and Natalie. Our first cook and dine at their amazing home + dining and we learned a lot about Moroccan food culture. I went to Al's Med@59JCT many times, and I will come again and again. There is nothing less surprising that he scores a full 5 stars review. The food is just simply excellent. But more importantly, you are guaranteed to spend a memorable dinner thanks to a very unique atmosphere and Al and his wife's remarkable kindness.
