When I think of a natural wine bar, I think about a place with a range of creative seasonal wines and knowledgeable approachable staff who are interested in finding you a wine to your taste. When done right, it’s a great experience that can help open people up to wine in a relaxed environment and make it feel less posh and inaccessible. Middle Child. didn’t quite do this for us. Visually it looks fun and the aesthetic is welcoming and playful. However, we were sat down, told to order from a QR code, and couldn’t find any information on the wines available to order. No grape varieties, country, or even tasting notes. We had to google them all, sheesh! If you’re wondering why we didn’t just ask our server; again, we were sat down, told how to order, and the wait staff would perch and chat by the bar until an order came through. It would have been nice for the server to ask if we had any questions or wanted to sample any wines, maybe we would’ve stayed for two instead. Yeah, I dunno. I’ve been to a few great wine bars and this one ain’t hitting the mark. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

my favourite go-to bar. staff are always so warm, friendly and kind. music is goated (rnb, hiphop, rap w a mix of pop.. malcolm todd, tyler the creator, rihanna, michael jackson all in one night ) drink selection is great too! Price per person: SGD 20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Middle Child Bar stands out for its quirky, welcoming identity, celebrating the “overlooked and underappreciated.” (I felt appreciated and not overlooked here) The bright, cozy interior—reminiscent of a European café—invites guests for casual lunches, after-work drinks, or laid-back dinners, while fostering an inclusive, unpretentious environment. Wide windows, warm lighting, and café-meets-bar charm set the mood for creative gatherings or solo escapes. The drinks menu features top-notch natural wines (happy hour prices and wines great- if a little small in size), fun cocktails, local craft beers like Brewlander (ok lah) Guinness, and house-made kombucha (mmmm ok if you want) —each crafted for easy enjoyment rather than exclusivity. Food is a major draw: flame-kissed plates, bold Asian-inspired tapas, and hearty mains like grilled pork collar, Brussels sprouts with honey-ginger dressing(bigger didn’t have) , Grilled Pork Belly delicious sauce , and octopus gator cheong tai and mushrooms have repeatedly earned high praise for flavour and creativity. Was delicious and not over-priced. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30
