We ordered the Char Kway Teow, Sambal Stingray, and Chicken Wings during our visit. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chicken wings. They were flavourful, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the Char Kway Teow fell short of expectations. It was missing the all-important wok hei (wok-fired aroma) that gives a good Char Kway Teow its distinctive character and depth of flavour. The Sambal Stingray was also disappointing. While the sambal itself was acceptable, the fish lacked the grilled flavour that makes this dish special. It felt more like the sambal had simply been placed on top of the stingray rather than being properly grilled together to allow the flavours to blend. Singapore has many excellent hawker stalls and seafood places serving these same dishes, and based on our experience, there are plenty of other places that do them much better. Overall, the chicken wings were good, but the Char Kway Teow and Sambal Stingray did not live up to our expectations. Price per person: $50–60 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Delicious Seafood Dinner Had a fantastic dinner at Ming Yen Seafood Restaurant! ️ Ordered the BBQ Fish, Steamed Fish, Cereal Prawn, Toufu, a veggie dish, and fried crispy baby squid for 3 pax (small size). Wow, the portions were huge! Highlights were the Cereal Prawn and fried crispy baby squid - finger-licking good! Food was sumptuous and super tasty. Post-dinner, hit up Best Satay 7 & 8 next door - their satay was a hit with my Chinese friends from mainland China! Chicken and beef satay were spot-on, and that peanut sauce . Highly recommend both spots if you're in the area! Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Our recent visit to Ming Yen BBQ Seafood Restaurant at Lau Pa Sat was profoundly disappointing, marking it as the worst experience we’ve had across various hawker centers, including Makansutra. Upon arrival, we were immediately pressured by a lady at the stall to order from them, despite the clear signage indicating that touting is not allowed. The persistent insistence even after we agreed to order created an uncomfortable and unpleasant dining atmosphere. Additionally, she continued to push us to order more dishes, which further marred our experience. When the food arrived, we were met with another disappointment. The portion sizes were notably small for the price we paid. The chili crab, which was priced at $50, was missing a claw, adding to our sense of being overcharged and underwhelmed. The overall quality and quantity of the food left us feeling cheated. In conclusion, based on our experience, we strongly advise potential diners to reconsider eating at Ming Yen Restaurant. The combination of aggressive touting, overpriced and underwhelming food, and the overall lack of value make it an establishment we cannot recommend.
