A Warm and Nostalgic Tonkatsu Spot in Hyoja-dong, Chuncheon — “Mori” Hidden in a quiet alley of Hyoja-dong lies a small, humble restaurant called Mori. At first glance, it looks aged—like it has stood long enough to witness countless meals, conversations, and footsteps. But that’s exactly what makes it charming. There’s warmth here. Inside, the tables and chairs don’t match. It feels like furniture brought from someone’s home rather than purchased for a business. And honestly? I loved that. It made the space feel real—lived-in, sincere, and welcoming. The restaurant seems to run mainly on takeout and delivery, but the small dining space is open if you choose to stay. I met the owner and, I believe, her daughter. Both were incredibly kind — the kind of kindness that isn't forced, but natural and full of heart. And then while eating, the owner suddenly asked: “Should I make you a fried egg?” Just like that. No fuss, no reason — just generosity. At that moment, I thought: This isn't just food. This is hospitality — simple, honest, and human. It’s the kind of gesture that turns a first-time visitor into a regular without realizing it. I walked out smiling, feeling strangely full — not just from the meal, but from the warmth the place carries. And on my way home, a thought lingered: What does “Mori” mean? Is it a name? A memory? A person? Someday, I’d like to ask. Until then, I’ll just say this: If you want a meal that feels like visiting someone’s home — someone caring, someone thoughtful — come to Mori. Warm food.
