So we were convinced by our Grab driver to visit here since it was en-route to another place we were going to which was quite far out the city centre. We shouldn't have agreed. The place itself is really depressing and grim. You will see monkeys chained up in cages when you first enter. I assume that these monkeys were the ones which were not yet broken. After being given the opportunity to feed these monkeys by throwing fruit into their cages, they then brought out a different set of monkeys one by one (again, all chained by the neck) from a set of cages backstage for each one to do some kind of performance in front of you. These were clearly the broken monkeys and I shudder to think how they broke them. I understand that families need to make a livelihood and they have families to support etc. But the animal cruelty at this place is stark and it left a very sour taste in my mouth. If you have any kind of compassion for animals then this place is best avoided. I really hope the monkeys get rescued from their purgatory one day. It was very sad to see.

I visited the Monkey Training Center in Chiang Mai expecting a fun memorable experience, but it was a nightmare of abuse and lies. The woman in the attached picture blatantly lied about releasing monkeys into the jungle at 6 pm for free roaming by their trainers 10 miles from the show and picked up every morning — it's confirmed 100% BS; they’re caged 24/7 (besides shows and occasional training) "because they were raised this way and do better in their cages". These innocent creatures are chained nonstop for pathetic shows, crammed into tiny enclosures, looking depressed with dull eyes and endless pacing. I support ethical animal experiences, but the way they do it here boils my blood. I don't think the monkeys mind the training and shows but being locked in a very small cage the other 23 + hours of the day is wrong! The picture I uploaded is of a monkey in one of there rare "bigger cages" but the chain length doesn't allow them to reach any part of the fence. BOYCOTT THIS HELLHOLE! This infuriating exploitation must end now—rescue these animals and shut it down for good. Please Opt for real, humane wildlife spots instead. Through Google and AI searches we ended up going to several places where there are alot of wild mokeys. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
