Came to Muddy Murphy’s really excited to try their Sunday roast and we were greeted by Cindy, who was absolutely lovely. We also enjoyed the music being played which created a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to our expectations. Although we had our table until 4:30pm, dessert was dropped at our table around 3:30pm without our mains being cleared or anyone checking whether we were ready for dessert. As it happened, we were just about to ask for it, but the timing and lack of communication felt rushed and disorganised. The apple pie arrived with a scoop of ice cream that was already half melted, as though it had been sitting out for some time before being served. To make matters worse, the pie itself was cold when it should have been served warm. We asked a staff member, Shaz, whether it was supposed to look that way and were met with a dismissive response: “Yes, they all look like this,” and she walked away. Both my friend and I work in hospitality, so we understand that things can go wrong during service. However, the way our concern was handled was disappointing. When my friend politely explained that the response felt dismissive and rude, the reply we received came across as sarcastic: “Oh, sorry, what else do you want?” At that point, we simply asked for the bill and left without finishing our dessert. It was disappointing, as we had been looking forward to it, but the cold apple pie and the way our concerns were handled had completely put us off. I’ve always heard great things about Muddy Murphy’s, which is why this experience was such a surprise. While Cindy and the band were wonderful, the overall dining experience left a lot to be desired, and unfortunately it isn’t somewhere I would choose to return. Attached to a photo of how our dessert was served (photo taken immediately as we wanted to show proof to any staff, we could get the attention of that this was how it looked when it arrived and then they could not give us an excuse that it was sitting there for awhile) but instead using this as a reference for a review.
