The Ban Mian has a rich, flavorful sauce that blends really well with the noodles overall. First time trying chilli dry pan mee in Singapore. It’s totally different from what I’m used to having in KL. The dry version here is white with chilli paste, whereas the KL dry chilli pan mee uses dark soy sauce, and like Ng Kuan, the chilli paste is served separately. Without the chilli paste, the taste was still okay, but slightly bland but still acceptable. During peak periods and late night, it might be packed and you may need to wait a little to get a table. This was lowkey one of the top 3 chilli ban mian I’ve had in Singapore. Went in without huge expectations and left genuinely impressed. The flavour and texture were on point — the ikan bilis and fried garlic added so much crunch and savouriness, and everything was well-balanced instead of being overly salty or oily. The real star for me was the runny egg yolk. Once mixed in, it made the noodles extra creamy and rich, coating every strand perfectly and tying all the flavours together. The chilli had a good kick without overpowering the dish, and the portion was satisfying, especially for a late-night meal. You can really tell when a ban mian is done right, and this one definitely hit the spot. It’s located along Upper Serangoon Road, on the same stretch as the famous Star Western, which makes it super easy to find. Since it’s open 24/7, it’s a solid option for supper with friends or whenever the craving hits, no matter the hour. Overall, a super reliable chilli ban mian spot that I’d gladly come back to again.
