Changed owner 6 months ago (start of 2026?). Previous menu no longer available. New menu is very limited. On the day we visited the cafe was super short handed. Food was surprisingly good though, the pork skewers were tender, and the jap curry was pretty good. Matcha latte was disappointing. Love the chill homey vibes, board games available too. Place is not big, and establishment is not yet properly set up. Service was earnest and adequate. Hope the cafe can get its manpower sorted, expand the menu options, and improve its matcha. super cozy cafe with a nice selection of card games, really enjoyed the atmosphere here! the moment we stepped in the owner(?) prefaced that they wouldn’t be serving food for the rest of the day, which i felt was really thoughtful to have been mentioned upfront. was very intentional with serving the customers as well, came up and had 3 drink recommendations for us to pick from. great for victims of choice overload (us). and the presentation of drinks is so stunning! they really do put in a lot pride and effort into their work. we ordered the strawberry matcha and pistachio matcha ($8.50 each) and genuinely loved them so bad. every time i see a new matcha flavour combo i get worried that it won’t work out but the pistachio matcha was so incredibly lovely and lifechanging and i NEED to know the thought process genius behind this recipe and its ratios. stunning work. pistachio butter(?) at the bottom also had pistachio bits and i really loved how neither of the flavours overshadowed each other. i personally think strawberry matcha is always a safe bet (sweet enough that most people don’t complain about matcha tasting like grass etc) but my friend isn’t its biggest fan. or even a fan at all actually. but even she said this cup was one of the best and i think it’s testament to the effort that goes into making each drink. the strawberry foam on top was a nice touch!! i think the strawberry taste is more on the forefront of this drink though and it’s definitely on the sweeter side as well. we both chose pistachio matcha as our top pick for both its novelty and flavour balance. the strawberry matcha market is getting saturated imho but you really can’t go wrong with it too. definitely a steeper price than some other places but the quality and environment and service really does set them apart. Had a nice time at Corks & Beans! The place feels cosy and relaxed — great spot to chill and catch up. Food was tasty and I especially loved their haebeehiam hehe.
