First of all, a very important reminder: please call the restaurant directly to make a reservation. Uncle does not receive online reservations, so calling is the best way to secure your table. This is truly a hidden gem. The restaurant is small and cosy, but everything is very well organised. The owner personally takes care of every table and makes sure all guests are well looked after. The food is even more impressive — authentic, flavourful and consistently delicious. My family and I come here almost every week. Our must-order dishes are Ngoh Hiang, sambal prawns and fish. When we have a bigger appetite, we also add a soup. Every visit ends with us leaving happily with a very satisfying meal. The prices are also very reasonable, around $20 per person, which makes the experience even better. Great food, warm service and a very homely atmosphere. Highly recommended! I had an absolutely delightful time at Novena Peranakan Cuisine this evening. The highlight of my experience has to be the sambal that was served alongside my Ayam Buah Keluak. It was perfectly balanced: not too spicy, not too tart, just the right mix of chilli & spice. The Ayam Buah Keluak was also a real delight. The chicken was tender but not overly so. The gravy was rich & hearty. & the Buah Keluak was sumptuous. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and the humble authenticity of this place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: SGD 10–20
