JR/京阪宇治のメインストリートから離れた住宅地にある隠れ家のようなコーヒー専門店。店内はクラブのようなDJブースを配した狭い店内。席も店内を囲むように小さな椅子(?)のようなベンチのような簡易折り畳み椅子かあり、ワチャワチャした感じがまた良い雰囲気をまで醸し出しているような。コーヒーは産地や種類も豊富で一杯一杯豆を挽き計量しながらドリップするスタイル。スタッフ(おーな)も若手2人で丁寧なドリップと客に眼を配らせながら、客との会話にも気を利かせているのがよく分かる。もう少し席数やオペレーションを改善しながら今の雰囲気を維持出来れば確実に成功すると感じた、理由はコーヒー自体が絶品だったから。. If you think Uji is only about Matcha, you’re missing out! I stumbled upon OUTSTANDING COFFEE ROASTER while exploring near Byodoin Temple, and it truly lived up to its name. The Atmosphere: The shop is a beautifully renovated traditional Japanese house located just a 5-minute walk from Byodoin Temple. The "Coffee meets Culture" concept is spot on—it’s the perfect blend of old-school Japanese charm and modern, cool aesthetics. It’s small and cozy, but every corner feels thoughtfully designed. The Coffee (A Must-Try for Coffee Lovers): As a roastery, they take their beans seriously. They have a wide selection from all over the world, including premium Geisha beans. I tried their House Blend (Iced Americano) and it was fantastic. It has a very distinct character—distinctly nutty (like roasted peanuts), smooth, and not bitter at all. If you’re traveling with someone who still wants the Uji experience, they do serve Matcha as well, so everyone wins! Experience & Tips: Service: The staff is very friendly and passionate about their craft. You can tell they really care about the quality of every cup. Shopping: If you like what you drink, they have a great selection of roasted beans available for purchase to take home as a souvenir. Crowd: It can get quite busy in the afternoon, so if you want a more quiet, chill vibe, try visiting in the morning. Summary: This is easily the best Specialty Coffee spot in Uji. It’s a great escape from the crowded main streets. Whether you’re a serious coffee enthusiast or just need a caffeine kick after temple-hopping, this place is OUTSTANDING.
