Awesome fresh Czech Craft Beer - Better than in Czechia! Pivo has recently moved from the Old Town - so NB currently no hot food and open Friday-Sunday only. Martin the brewer is super-skilled and very welcoming. Many traditional ways of serving the beer including one I've never seen in Czechia "Milko" - which is all foam (?!). Looks like milk and is an original presentation having been designed back in the day for ladies to take the bitterness out of conventional Czech beer. Beer is super-fresh and fortunately no additives that cause unnecessary hangovers unlike many other "craft" beers. Also super-good in Bangkok - where "craft" all too often means "American craft" all too often lacking in subtlety and overly fragranced - to have genuine central European craft beer where the pure "beer-ness" shines through. Pivo also stocks other worthy guest beers of comparable quality. Definitely a must go for the beer connoisseur - simple, no frills (although beautiful wooden tables and glasses) with all the focus on the beers. The evening we went there was a beer festival in Bangkok and two groups of two separately arrived from that festival - so Pivo's reputation has clearly spread far. Price per person: ฿200–400

What a find!!!! Real Czech beer in Sathorn. Pivo recently moved here. Previously in the former premises they served food (hence the review photos) but not here oher than crisps/snacks. Here the focus is on the beer, which is super quality. Hard to find fresh well-made traditional European beer in Bangkok so we were delighted to find this place - sadly at present only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Martin, the brewer, is a friendly and knowledgeable host, and the pub offers a selection of other European 'guest' beers on tap. The environment is clean and bright, with lovely polished natural wood tables. All highly recommended. I tried the Dark Lager, the Pilsner, the Rezane and a taster of the Mliko. The Dark is rich and satisfying - slightly sweeter than the Pilsner Lager which is cold and refreshing. I loved them both - which is probably why I then went for the Rezane - a mix of the best of both. The Mliko was a fun way to drink beer - light, sweet and frothy. Price per person: ฿200–400

There's so much to love about Pivo. The Dark Lager is tremendous, and a sessionable strength at 4.5%, the standard lager is decent too. Served in the traditional Czech style, priced up at under 200 baht for a normal sized glass and no tourist nonsense of adding VAT and service charge to the price. The owner is friendly and approachable, and happy to discuss the beers and the bar with you. Met som locals delighted to have this on their doorstep. Walkable from either Khlong Toei or Lumpini MRT. I came on a Friday after 6, think its only open 3 nights at present so you might want to check for any updates before setting off, but it's most definitely worth the effort. Price per person: ฿400–600 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
