(March 2026) The food was enjoyable and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service experience fell well short of the standard one would expect from a restaurant that values hospitality. Our impression was that the ordering staff were focused primarily on maximising orders rather than helping diners make informed decisions. We arrived at 12.45pm intending to enjoy a leisurely dim sum lunch and ordered a substantial meal, including both promotional items and several main dishes. At no point were we informed that service would effectively conclude much earlier than expected, nor were we advised whether the quantity ordered was realistic given the available dining time. Food arrived progressively from around 1pm onwards. To our surprise, we were informed at approximately 2.15pm that the kitchen would soon be closing and were asked for final orders. This left us rushing through dishes that had only recently arrived. While it is entirely understandable that kitchens operate on fixed schedules, diners should reasonably be able to enjoy the meals they have ordered without feeling hurried. The experience became more uncomfortable when, at around 2.30pm, we were presented with the bill for verification despite still being only halfway through our meal. What made this particularly noticeable was that we were not the only table caught off guard. An adjacent table of two foreign guests, who appeared to have arrived later than us and had ordered a bottle of wine with their meal, also seemed surprised when they were informed that service was ending, the air-conditioning would be switched off, and payment would need to be settled shortly thereafter. Their reaction suggested that the communication issue was not unique to our table. The issue was not the food, which was good, but the absence of hospitality and communication. Good service is not merely about taking orders; it is about managing expectations, providing appropriate advice, and ensuring that customers have a pleasant dining experience. Review of Peach Garden @ OCBC Centre Ambience & Service The restaurant offers a cozy yet polished setting that works well for family gatherings. Service was attentive, though almost too efficient—dishes arrived one after another so quickly that we barely had time to savour each course before the next was served. Quality & Quantity With six of us hitting the $250 à la carte spend for the free suckling pig, we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions of every dish. Each plate was beautifully presented, visually impactful, and tasted superb, which made the meal feel extra special. A complimentary lotus bun in the shape of a longevity peach was also served for our birthday celebration—a thoughtful touch. Taste & Portion The highlight was definitely the suckling pig: its crispy golden skin and tender, juicy meat lived up to its reputation. Portions overall were generous and easily filled the table. Verdict If you’re planning a group dinner, this promotion is excellent value. Just remember to book ahead, double-check the terms, and consider pacing the dishes yourself so you can enjoy them more leisurely. Overall, it was a memorable and satisfying dining experience. ⸻ Revisit on 20 August 2025 We returned for my mother’s birthday celebration, and the quality of the suckling pig remained consistent—crispy, juicy, and perfectly portioned into small slices for us to savour. Other dishes, however, were more of a mixed bag: • Fried Kailan – cooked to a perfect crisp-tender texture, very enjoyable. • Yam dish – unfortunately undercooked and tough. • Roasted Chicken with Rojak Sauce – well roasted, juicy inside with a nice crispy skin, but the mango served with it was extremely sour and clashed with the dish. • Steamed “Soon Hock” ($160) – presentation was off, and the fish appeared over-steamed. Its texture was damaged, and the flavour was disappointingly bland. Once again, we received a complimentary lotus bun for the birthday, which was a nice gesture. ⸻ Overall Impression Peach Garden @ OCBC Centre remains a great spot for group celebrations, especially with their value-for-money suckling pig promotion. While the suckling pig continues to shine, the quality of the supporting dishes can be inconsistent, particularly at premium pricing. Still, the thoughtful touches for birthdays make it a warm choice for family occasions.
