I visited this café recently and immediately felt unwelcome. The cafe owner's attitude toward me was noticeably different from how they treated another guest that came in later. Even in a single visit, I was being talked down to and made out to feel out of place. When I tried to leave, the owner stood blocking the exit while petting another guest’s dog and didn’t move until I specifically asked, which felt unnecessarily awkward and inconsiderate. I want to say this visit reminded me of experiencing racism in different contexts - sharing this as an analogy on how discriminatory the environment came across as, and so the business can reflect on how it treats guests who stand out as different for any reason.
