Plaza Mayor is an authentic Spanish tapas and wine bar on Sun Street in the Starstreet Precinct of Wanchai. You'll find casual, atmospheric indoor seating and during weekdays a handful of patrons spilling out into the open terrace area just outside enjoying a sherry or beer. Opening hours are 12pm until late in the evening. Menu features a good selection of tapas, paella and mains along with a wide range of wines, beer and spirit drinks. We ate a light dinner here recently and enjoyed all foods served. Octopus and pedron peppers were good, the calamari even better and the chorizo succulent, flavourful and just great. Wine, sherry and beer orders on the day were expectedly good as well. Service is very friendly and food orders come out in a timely manner. In the end, we have a fair number of Spanish and tapas places around the city but I can think of no other that reminds of restaurants we have dined at in Spain nearly as much as Plaza Mayor in Wanchai. This is as close as it gets to being are back in Espana. It is a really good venue to relax, enjoy the warm summer evenings along with light conversations with your partner or group of friends.
