I went into Popeyes with what I thought were safely low expectations—honestly, I was just hoping for something edible and vaguely satisfying. Somehow, even that bar proved too high. The chicken was impressively dry, like it had been left under a heat lamp since the last fiscal year. And for something that’s supposed to be the star of the show, there was barely any actual meat under the mountain of fried skin. I don’t mind crispy, but this felt less like fried chicken and more like biting into a crunchy shell with a vague suggestion of poultry inside. Then there was the apple pie. I don’t know who decided cinnamon should be the main ingredient, but it completely overpowered everything else. It tasted less like dessert and more like I accidentally inhaled a spice rack. All in all, I came in expecting the bare minimum and still walked out disappointed. That takes a special kind of consistency. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
